✅ Fact-Checking

Citizen fact-checking in the age of disinformation. Parti built Korea’s first crowdsourced fact-checking platform with citizen participation and operates a community where citizens themselves become fact-checkers, building truth together. Beyond after-the-fact verification, Parti is developing proactive responses that track the circulation paths of disinformation.

Community & Methodology

The community where citizens themselves work as fact-checkers, along with the education and operations behind it.

4. K.F.C. Citizen Fact-Checkers Community

✅ Implemented

⭐ Parti Original

Korean Fact-Checkers Community. A community Parti operates where citizens themselves work as fact-checkers — learning, verifying, and growing together. A pioneering case in Korea that moved beyond expert-institution-centered fact-checking toward a citizen-participation model.

5. Citizen Fact-Check Education & Training

✅ Implemented

Education and training programs Parti runs to help citizens grow into fact-checkers. Systematic learning covers information verification methods, source-checking techniques, and fact-check writing.

6. FactCheck.net (Former Initiative)

✅ Implemented

⭐ Parti Original

The first crowdsourced fact-checking platform in Korea, operated 2021–2023 with Parti as co-chair. Introduced a collaborative model where journalists, experts, and citizens fact-check together, making decisive contributions to building Korea’s fact-checking ecosystem.

Connection & International

Collaboration with domestic and international fact-checking ecosystems.

7. IFCN Global Fact-Checking Fund (Build Support)

✅ Implemented

In 2024, Parti was selected for the Global Fact-Checking Fund’s “Build Support” program by the International Fact-Checking Network (IFCN). A case of international recognition for Korea’s citizen fact-checking model.

8. Media & Journalism Collaboration

Joint fact-checking projects with newsrooms and media organizations. A collaboration model combining citizens’ verification capacity with journalism’s investigative power.

Future Directions

The next challenges in the age of disinformation.

9. Disinformation Pathway Tracking & Proactive Alert

⬜ Future Direction

A system that tracks how disinformation is created, what paths it travels along, and how it mutates across communities. A proactive response model that goes beyond after-the-fact verification to identify disinformation propagation paths in advance and alert citizens.

10. AI-Assisted Fact-Checking

⬜ Future Direction

AI tools that assist fact-checkers in their verification work. AI automates evidence search, source verification, and similar-case recommendations, reducing the workload of citizen fact-checkers. The direction is AI assisting citizens’ verdicts, not AI making verdicts. (Also covered in Category 11, AI & Future Technology.)

11. Fact-Check Impact Tracking

⬜ Future Direction

Automatic tracking and visualization of fact-check impact — how widely verified information spreads, whether the spread of original disinformation declines — to make fact-checking effects visible.
