🤝 Civic Participation & Solidarity

Parti does not build the square alone. Digital democracy is not completed by one organization’s tools — it grows only on the connection of citizen activists, the collaboration of organizations, and solidarity across borders. For a decade, Parti has connected activists across many fields, collaborated with more than 1,500 organizations, and built solidarity with companions across Asia.

Activist Networks

Networks of citizen activists Parti has grown itself. Citizens active in different fields share their experiences and inspiration with each other.

1. Public Forum Activist Network

✅ Implemented

A network connecting activists who plan and run public forums. They share the forums they have planned or experienced, exchange the difficulties and know-how of operating them, and learn together. A space where public forum activists, once working scattered apart, discover each other.

2. Community Activist Network

✅ Implemented

A network connecting the diverse community activists who build a better world. People interested in organizing and running communities meet to share experience and inspiration.

3. Campaigner Community

✅ Implemented

A community of citizen campaigners who run campaigns in Parti’s squares. Beyond individual citizens raising their voices alone, it builds a web of fellow citizens who support each other’s campaigns and act together.

4. K.F.C. Korean Fact-Checkers Community

✅ Implemented

⭐ Parti Original

A community of fact-checkers who verify information themselves. A citizen fact-checker network Parti grew itself, learning and verifying together to build Korea’s citizen fact-checking culture. (Covered in detail in Category 4, Fact-Checking.)

Civil Society & Social Solidarity Economy Collaboration

Collaboration Parti has built at the organizational level. Parti has widened the square together with companions in civil society and the social and solidarity economy.

5. Joint Activity with 1,500+ Partner Organizations

✅ Implemented

Over a decade, Parti has collaborated with more than 1,500 civil society organizations, public-interest groups, and cooperatives to create campaigns, public forums, fact-checks, and data projects together. Not one organization’s platform, but a square used by all of Korean civil society.

6. Digital Activity Support for Regional Organizations

✅ Implemented

So that civil society organizations in regions beyond Seoul are not left behind in digital transformation, Parti has supported the digital activities of regional organizations. Work that helps organizations active in the regions build and operate their own squares.

7. Joint Campaigns & Co-Planning

✅ Implemented

Joint campaigns and co-planning Parti creates with various organizations, newsrooms, and institutions. Policy Battles with University Alli and Gongik Journal, Policy Battles with Sisageongeon and Pressian, Korea Talks with Hankyoreh, joint public forums with climate, labor, and gender organizations — Parti has always grown the square in the form of collaboration.

8. Digital Social & Solidarity Economy (SSE) Alliance

🔧 In Progress

An alliance gathering companions among nonprofits, cooperatives, and civic organizations — so that digital technology and data are built and operated through the commonly-owned, commonly-governed ways of the social and solidarity economy, rather than Big Tech monopoly. A network of companions to build together the ecosystem of democratic technology Parti envisions, currently being formed.

Asian Solidarity

Parti’s work connecting companions of digital democracy across Asia, beyond borders.

9. Facing the Ocean (FTO)

✅ Implemented

An East Asian civic hacker network where civic hackers from Korea, Taiwan, Japan, and neighboring countries gather under the name of “facing the same ocean.” Co-hosted by Taiwan’s g0v, Japan’s Code for Japan, and Korea’s Code for Korea. Parti was one of the organizations that started FTO in its early days, and the Korean operation is now carried forward by Code for Korea. After Japan in 2024 and Taiwan in 2025, FTO 2026 will be held in Korea again.

10. Asian Digital Democracy Activist Network

🔧 In Progress

Beyond a technical gathering of civic hackers, a network connecting activists who build digital democracy in countries across Asia. A space of solidarity Parti is currently building, so that the experience of citizen squares grown within one country can cross borders and grow each other.
